About five years ago, I dreamed of creating a site like Simily. Except in my head it was a little cleaner.

I looked into getting investors, but to do so required proof that it was something people would want to use, and at the time, I would have needed to create something myself from scratch and then get people to sign up and use it BEFORE I could get an investor on board.

I spoke to dozens of people in the publishing industry who all told me that authors wouldn't use the platform because they couldn't get any work published professionally once it was posted online.

I reached out to my network to see if I could get someone to sign on as a tech cofounder, but I couldn't find anyone with the skills who was also willing to put in the work for free.

All this is to say that starting a platform like this is HARD. And from what I have seen of Simily, I imagine they have run into many of the problems that led me to give up.

Maybe if they don't succeed I can try to find investors and move forward with my idea once again... :)
