How Interviewing For Jobs Can Help You In Your Current Role

Last September, I decided it was time to find a new job for myself. I wasn’t happy with my current role and I wanted more out of my career. I enrolled in a program that cost quite a large chunk of change and began to search in earnest.

The program was awesome and helped me significantly improve my resume and job search skills. I applied for hundreds of jobs and had 3–5 interviews scheduled every week. Some of the interviews were with really large companies, an opportunity I had never had before.

I was on cloud nine!

After a few months, the rejections started to get to me and I decided to take a break. But there was a benefit to all those interviews that I hadn’t expected.

You see while interviewing, I was frequently asked why I was looking for a new role. And after answering that question dozens of times, I realized that I could change some of those things. So I reached out to my boss and negotiated a new agreement that led to more job satisfaction for me.
