I discovered long ago that raising your rates gets you better clients and more respect. But I still struggle to apply it to all areas of my life. I recently had a friend ask what my hourly rate was for consulting and when I told him he protested that it wasn't nearly enough and he would never take me seriously at that rate. I have since doubled it.
