On social media, the recommendation is to follow the 10/1 rule. Comment 10 times for every 1 post. I’m still rather new to Medium and I’m learning how everything works. But I’ve realized that this is a lot like a social media platform and a lot of the techniques that work on Twitter, LinkedIn etc. also work here.

I am slowly working my way towards 100 followers over here. I’ve been blogging for a long time and I’m pretty confident in the quality of my writing. For me, the struggle is distribution. I have some Facebook groups that I share in, and I’m pretty active on LinkedIn so I share there as well. But if I don’t share, I get 0 reads.

I definitely need to find some algorithm experts and a few publications to submit to. I believe that will help a lot. I don’t want followers who aren’t real or followers who don’t want to read my work, because it will hurt me in the long run. If I don’t hit 100 by the deadline, I know that continuing to read and comment, along with regularly publishing high quality content, will get me there. Just like every other social media platform. ☺
